Nancy and I worked together on three very different projects over a period of ten years or so. With varying degrees of her assistance, we furnished a living room, staged a large suburban home to ready it for sale and, most recently, determined placement of our extensive artwork collection to prepare for hanging in our urban condominium.
The common thread among each of the projects was how easy Nancy made it for me to see through the challenges and take the first steps towards defining and reaching my goals. She has an outstanding eye and an equally perceptive ear as she listens well to what the client’s lifestyle and desires are. Nancy embraced each project without being pushy or requiring a minimum amount of time or compensation. A few of the memorable moments from the work done with Nancy to date include:
•Her recommending the furniture store I should try for the kinds of living room pieces she felt would best fit my taste and style. I was so anxious about it all that Nancy even came with me on the first shopping trip and was a great help in selecting the furniture. We love the sofas so much that they have now become the centerpiece of the living room in our new city condo.
•On Nancy’s first visit to discuss de-cluttering our four bedroom home for sale, I stood by and watched as she selected two shelving spaces in two different rooms in the house and, rather than tell me what I needed to do, she demonstrated by removing, shifting, re-orienting and organizing the items on the shelves in just a few minutes. She asked how I felt about certain possessions (never really like that one? – out it goes!!) and wandered around the house to find alternate pieces to place strategically to draw the eye to a particular space. Through this process, I could see that this was actually a manageable task and I learned about utilizing techniques like grouping like items, displaying books on their sides (who knew??) and using decorative baskets and containers to store important but unsightly clutter.
•Nancy’s strategy in the artwork project began similarly to the others. She asked us to identify pieces we wanted to spotlight in the public rooms of our new apartment and those we felt were more personal and better suited to the bedrooms. Slowly but surely, through a process of trial and error, and Q&A, we found the perfect places for nearly all of our treasured art. Once the pieces were hung, our house truly became our home!
No matter the size of your organizing challenge, Nancy is an enormous asset and an absolute pleasure to work with. I recommend her wholeheartedly and will use her services without hesitation as needed in the future.
